Knitting4Peace www.knitting4peace.org donates hand-knit dolls and hand-quilted sleeping mats, made by their volunteers, to CPASGhana to be distributed to the preschools we work with and to children and their families at the Nsawam Hospital. We have distributed over 250 dolls.
The Exploratory, www.the-exploratory.org, is an non-profit, working with teachers and students in Ghana. Their staff conducts STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) teacher training in Nsawam. They also run Science Clubs for Girls, which all of our sponsored students attend. In the clubs, our students are exposed to hands-on, participatory STEM education. As a result, our sponsored girls have developed a greater knowledge and interest in these subjectsand as a result, they are imagining more possibilities for their future.
CU-WIN Camp- The Charleston County School District, Boeing and The Charity Foundation STEM Education Program held a summer STEM Camp for girls in North Charleston, SC. This partnership enabled our sponsored girls in Ghana and the US students to create and share videos of their schools, community and STEM classes. Education for All https://www.facebook.com/groups/262307860785296/ is a high school based group in Connecticut. The club members collect and ship school supplies and backpacks to be distributed to students and teachers in the schools we partner with in Nsawam. Over the past three years they have sent 225 backpacks and hundreds pounds of supplies for students and their teachers, improving the students chance of success at school.
